Free

I can count on one hand how many songs have made me cry. I'm a crier, but not I rarely cry over songs &/or movies. I normally just cry when someone hurts my feelings or I'm frustrated.

Years ago, the song "Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw came on the radio & I lost it in the car. Shad & I had just met & I think he thought I was a basketcase. It was the part in the song where the wife is dying & he asks God, "Don't take the girl." Ugh - heart-wrenching.

Then, after 9/11, Shad & I were driving to Thanksgiving dinner at his Uncle's house when the song, "Remember When" by Alan Jackson came on. I was a sobbing mess.

Now every time both of those songs come on the radio, Shad asks, "Awe, are you going to cry?" Mr. Compassionate.

Another few that had my in hysterics were both at concerts - one was "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue" at the Toby Keith concert after my friend, Shalan lost her husband to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

And finally, the song "Sara Beth" by Rascal Flatts made a mess out of me when I saw them in concert last year. My brother had just lost his girlfriend to cancer the month prior & this happened to really hit home.

Well, that's only 4.

Then, two weeks ago I was standing in my sister's kitchen holding Cashe when this new song by the Zach Brown Band came on the radio called, "Free". It's a military song (which I didn't know at the time), but it had me thinking, we are (literally), just like the lyrics say, able to "travel all across this land ... just me & you". And you guessed it, I was sobbing in the kitchen, dancing in circles with my little man (as he stared at me in disbelief) & thanking God for how the opportunity to travel together like we do & spend time with friends & family & each other.

We're as "free, free as we'll ever be"!
