A Gift From God

One of my pet peeves is when people inaccurately use the word "literally". Everyone & their grandmother misues it so it's hard not to cringe, but all I can do is work on not misusing it myself since no one seems to know when to use it anyway, so why would they judge me?

With that being said, I got a gift from God recently, LITERALLY.

Since I have been on Short Term Disability (better known as "STD" at work, but inappropriately translated by most people), I have received several paychecks. Well, many changes have taken place at my work since I left. We were purchased last year by HP & the actual transition took place November 1st of this year (my leave started on October 19th so I just missed the giant mess of moving all processes to HP processes).

Well, while on LOA (Leave of Absence for all of you who may not hear the every day corporate lingo) the STD company pays your income. And my first check was significantly bigger than it normally is. We thought they may just be paying me more less frequently, so we held onto the extra & didn't spend it just in case.

Well, check #2 came & it was significantly bigger also. Hmmmm ... So, I decided to call Payroll. The Payroll hotline had a two-hour wait because of the transition, so the alternative was to email them. I emailed a generic Payroll address, set the extra wages aside & waited several weeks for a reply.

Another paycheck showed up that was SIGNIFICANTLY bigger.

Then I got my reply.

My reply came from a man named Jesus. He told me he had looked into it & the wages that were sent to our STD company were verified & he didn't see any issues, the money was mine. Seriously? Jesus from Payroll okayed it!

What a gift from God, literally!
