Run Baby Run Baby Run Baby Run

A hundred years ago (in high school), I ran cross country. And, believe it or not, I did not stalk Shad at that point in my life (it came several years later AFTER I graduted high school), BUT if I HAD stalked him at that time, I would've been running WITH him at the cross country meets all over western Montana because he was in fact there too.

On our way to the meets, I would get pumped up by listening to Sheryl Crow's hit song at the time, Run Baby Run, which is actually a super slow, dreary song, but repeating the word "run" must've motivated me at the time. I can still remember sitting on the bus listening to this song on repeat & how anxious I was to run 3 miles ... & alway come in almost dead last.

Oh well.

A hundred years later I am still running though & this year I ran my first 5K & my first 10K all in less than a month! Go me!

My cousin, Kelly convinced me to do Boise's first annual Turkey Day Run downtown on Thanksgiving morning. What better way to start a "big meal day" than with a hearty 3-mile run? We ran the whole thing without stopping & actually goofed off a little (& ran like Phoebe from Friends, if any of you know what that means.)

BUT, the real trick was gearing up to run 6.1 miles for the YMCA Christmas Fun Run. My track-scholarship-earning-hubby has never even run 6.1 miles in a race. Go me! (I kind of can't believe I did it.)

The killer part was that it was partially uphill (& I didn't necessarily believe Kelly when she told me, not realizing she ran the same run the year prior -- oopsie -- sorry, Miss Kelly Elly -- I think I was just being hopeful).

It was a GREAT time though AND the first question from my sweet husband when I got home was, "No accidents?" Meaning, "You didn't poop yourself, did you? Because you've been known to have some leakage issues lately." (Refer to my earlier post.)

VERY FUNNY, Shad. No, there were no accidents.

I didn't even fall. I was so thrilled about the downhill, I thought I might fall from exhaustion/excitement, but there were NO accidents.

Yay me!
