June 2012: Week One

Normally, this time of year, we head to Montana for a week in cabins with Shad's family.  We have had a few problems with the campground where we stay, so we decided (after 10 years of going) that we would not go this year.

It was certainly a sacrifice not being able to see family & get that whole week of quality time together, but we've come up with another game plan for future years that will hopefully work.

This is what we did instead ...

After a busy week last week of traveling & visitors, we relaxed for the first part of the week.

Cashe snuck out of bed one night & we couldn't find him anywhere until we looked right under our noses -- on the couch, fast asleep.

We hit the park a few days too.

I have been training for a half marathon in Missoula in July & one night after my 9-mile run (ahhh!), I made myself a protein shake with spinach & strawberries ... & it was stolen.

One day, Cashe & I took Shad's car in to have it washed.  I let him sit in the front seat with me while we went through (hopefully that's not illegal) & he helped me vacuum afterwards.  It was a fun little adventure for us that day.

I had bunco this week in Boise, so Cashe & I loaded up the car & headed over to Boise.  We met my friend, Nicole from work for lunch & then had frozen yogurt with Cashe's old preschool teacher, Ms. Chris.

My Dad has been working in Boise the past two weeks & was staying in Meridian, so we went to see him too.

Every time Cashe sees Grandpa's truck, he says, "cookie".  Grandma Dee makes
Dad cookies for his road trips & Cashe knows he keeps them in his truck.

We went up to Grandpa's hotel room & Cashe made himself comfortable.
While we were in Boise, Shad was finishing his work week & then headed down to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker.
I woke up Friday morning to this photo on Facebook thanks to Bob.  Gross gross gross.

And undoubtedly, they're enjoying themselves in every way possible.
Hopefully, he's winning lots of moolah.
I, on the other hand, won no moolah at bunco.
We did have a fabulous time though, as always.

And the next morning, Dianne invited us to go to the spin class she just started teaching.
It was a great class & I love her teaching style.
The kicker -- it was at 5:15a.m.  It was well worth it though!

After spin, we went back to Jen's & lounged around while the kids played.
And as sister-wives, we had to have our photo taken with our matching white iPhones & giant Venti Starbucks water cups.

That night, we were celebrating Amber Joy's birthday so Cashe went to the babysitter's
& I got him a pizza to take with him.
He was so helpful carrying it around (sideways).

First stop: Pedicures with New Age & chocolate-covered strawberries.

Second stop: Dinner at Willowcreek Grill - Me & Amber Joy

And the blonde beauties - Dianne & Jen

Cheers to 31 years!

Stop Three: Wii Dancing at the Showroom

Look at these rockstars!

I s-u-c-k-e-d it up.  These girls ran circles around me with their dance moves.
I hit the wall once & had the lowest score every time.
I will stick to training for my half-marathon & going to spin class.

After we danced, we toured the Peterson's I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E yard that sits on the bench & overlooks Eagle.
It's gorgeous & so is this mama & her baby, the Lilster.

Then we had cake.  Homemade cake.  Dianne's homemade cake.  Does it get any better?

No, it doesn't get any better.
My friends are so talented - they can dance AND bake.

The next morning, we went to my friend/coworker, Kelly's house to have coffee.
Cashe watched the Lion King with Kelly's Great Dane, Kody.
Although this picture certainly doesn't capture it, he was ENORMOUS & very sweet with Cashe.
After coffee, we went to see my Dad at the hotel again & he offered to get us our own room so we could stay another night & hang out with him & his coworkers.

My Dad used to work in lumber sales & when the economy went south, the lumber industry went south & he started working as a Pilot Car Escort.  He drives behind large semi-trucks that haul the windmill blades & steers the back end of the semi with a remote control from his truck.  WILD.

He works with a lot group of truck drivers & other Pilot Car drivers who are very nice & very fun to hang out with, so we were happy to stay!
We took naps to catch up on a little sleep after an early morning & a late night the day before.

I didn't capture this photo quick enough, but Cashe was totally enthralled with the semi, but moreso, the dog inside!

Cashe was quite the sport & watched a movie, played with his trains (until he lost one in the pool table -- yes ANOTHER tragic accident where we lost another one of his toys -- I thought I was going to have to buy a pool table that night).

This is my Dad's little family: Helen, Ray, Dad, Me & Cashe, James, Jodi, Dennis, Victoria & Tony.
They were all SO sweet & so kind to Cashe & I.  It was a fun visit.
